How can I order the PAMS software and books
and how much is it?


You can order the PAMS software and books online from this website. As long as you already own the
PAMS software you can order additional books too.

What does the PAMS assessments consist of?


The PAMS assessment consist of a PC Microsoft Windows based software application along with
3 hardcopy printed booklets (the Instruction book, the Parent Booklet and the Knowledge cartoons booklet).

Do I have to be trained to use the PAMS assessment?


Yes all users operating the PAMS assessment need to have first undertaken a formal PAMS training course (through PAMS Assessments Ltd).  PAMS training is needed for anyone who purchased the licence and intends to use the PAMS assessment with families. Anyone who is PAMS 3.0 trained should be able to use the PAMS 4.0 without further training. Ultimately, organisations, agencies and individuals hold the responsibility for ensuring that they are PAMS trained when they use PAMS materials.



Can I order just the books instead of the software?


You can only order more PAMS books if you already own a PAMS software license.
The PAMS assessment can't be carried out just with the PAMS books (no software) as this would not constitute a PAMS assessment. To order additional PAMS books click here



Can I be invoiced when purchasing the PAMS
software/books/training?


Any orders for anything below £1700 have to be paid online through this website by credit/debit card.
We cannot invoice/BACS payments for any amount less than this, with no exceptions.
We cannot process credit/debit card payments over the phone
.

Can I pay for PAMS/training in installments or
using a payment plan?


We cannot accept payments for anything in installments or using a payment plan.
Payments can only be accepted in full online by debit/credit card.

I have paid online for the PAMS software/books/training,
where is my invoice?


When paying online via our Paypal payment page, you will then automatically be e-mailed a PDF
copy of your sales receipt. This will contain full details of your purchase and is a VAT receipt.
The sales receipt will be e-mailed to the e-mail address you have registered on your Paypal account.


I have paid and ordered the PAMS assessments/book, when can I expect delivery?


Orders are normally dispatched within 2 working days of every order.
All books dispatched are then sent by second class postage which takes on average 2 working days.
Any PAMS software purchased will be sent electronically to the purchaser via an e-mail download link.


How is the PAMS software licensed?


The PAMS software is licensed to one 1 license per PC installation.
If you need multiple PCs to have the PAMS software installed then you will need to please purchase a
separate PAMS software license for each PC. Click here for purchasing details.


Can I get a discount for multiple PAMS
software/book/training orders?


We do not offer any discounts for multiple purchases for software, books or training.

Do you accept credit/debit card PAYMENTS over the phone?

 
We can't process any credit/debit card payments over the phone.
Please only use our website ordering pages for credit/debit card payments.



Can I use the Zoom web browser interface instead for
the PAMS online video training?

 
Yes the web browser interface can used for our PAMS online video training courses. We do however recommend that the Zoom software application be installed if possible, as this will provide a better
training experience.




I have purchased the PAMS software, what do
I need to do next?

 
After purchasing the PAMS software, this will need installing on your PC using the download link
we sent to you in your confirmation e-mail. Once installed you will need to register the software
to activate it for use. To register, open the PAMS software and click the 'How To Register' button.
Follow the instructions on the screen to register your PAMS installation.




Does the PAMS software work on an Apple Mac?

 
The PAMS software does not work an Apple Mac (running the default OS X operating system).
PAMS only operates on a PC with Microsoft Windows installed. It is however possible to also install
Windows on an Apple Mac (which could then operate PAMS), although we don't provide support for this.




Can I phone you for PAMS technical support?

 
We do not offer phone based technical support for the PAMS software or training. As our technical support is offered free of charge it is e-mail based only. Please click here for more technical support.




Can I use the PAMS 3.0 software in the PAMS training course?

 
The PAMS training courses only offer training in PAMS 4.0. This is our latest edition of PAMS.
It will not be possible to use earlier editions of the PAMS software (PAMS 3.0, 2.0, 1.0) in our PAMS
training course. Each attendee needs to have a licensed copy of the PAMS 4.0 software installed
during the training.




Do I need to own the PAMS 4.0 software to do the
PAMS training course?

 
Yes you need to have already bought the PAMS 4.0 software to do the PAMS training course.
The PAMS 4.0 software and books are not included in the training booking fee so these need purchasing separately. The PAMS 4.0 software is used by each attendee during the training course.

My workplace doesn't allow us to use Zoom, can I train
using Microsoft Teams?

 
We only offer PAMS online video training courses using the Zoom video conferencing software.
It is not possible to use other video software (e.g Microsoft Teams) for our online video training courses.
You can however using the Zoom web browser interface (instead of the software app) for our online video training.




Can anyone carry out a PAMS assessment, what qualifications do I need?

 
PAMS assessments should be completed by professionals who carry out or who are involved in parenting assessments eg. social workers, family support workers, psychologists, health visitors, midwives, solicitors, children's guardians, family mediators, judges, magistrates.   Whatever the professional orientation, the person taking responsibility for heading up a PAMS assessment and producing a report should be sufficiently qualified within their professional role to do so.  Usually, this is a qualified social worker, clinical psychologist, health visitor etc.  This person should have attended an official PAMS training course before conducting a PAMS 4.0 assessment.




Has PAMS been evaluated?

 
PAMS has been subjected to extensive piloting prior to and since the first 1.3 edition in 1998 (described on Page 36 of the PAMS 4.0 Instruction Book).  In addition, PAMS has been reviewed and extensively reported on across the following national documents:

Can I score Priority Ratings on the worksheet if I can't complete the frequency of practice boxes?

 
If you are unable to score the frequency of practice boxes on the worksheet because of lack of information you can still score the Priority Rating using the Knowledge Cartoon column and Quality of Skill column scores.  However, you will need to flag up the absence of frequency of practice information in the comments box and in your report.  If the frequency of practice information becomes available later on you will need to update the frequency of practice boxes and priority rating for that skill.





Do I need PAMS 4.0 training if I am an experienced PAMS assessor but haven't attended a PAMS training workshop?

 
Anyone who is using the PAMS 4.0 software/assessment needs to have attended either a PAMS 3.0
or PAMS 4.0 training workshop.





Is the PAMS software included in the price of the training?

 
No. The software licence needs to be purchased in addition to the PAMS training.
