PAMS Trainer Profiles
Sue McGaw (PhD., Parents with Learning Disabilities; MSc in Clinical Psychology, BA Hons
Psychology) has been a clinical psychologist
since 1986. Sue is one of the leading experts in the
field of parents with learning disabilities in
the UK and has been an expert witness for the courts
and Law Society for 25 years. The BPS
awarded her the Distinguished Contribution to
Professional Psychology in 2000 in recognition
of her work. She was their media spokesperson
for many years. She has been a prolific
researcher and author of publications during her
professional life, including the PAMS
Assessment. She is well known as a keynote
speaker at
conferences in the UK and abroad and has
trained many professionals during her 28 year
career. Sue has been providing PAMS
workshops since 1998.
Donna Ward (Dip
SW; BA in Social Work; City & Guilds
Teaching) has been an independent
Social Worker and Children's Guardian since 2004
and is currently a Director of Ward Andrews
Limited. She has over 25 years in the
Child Care arena which includes working with very
challenging adolescents in both open and secure
residential settings. She has experience of
training, practice teaching, child protection,
substance misuse, play work, Youth Justice and
Mental Health. Donna worked for seven years in a
Family Support team conducting complex
Child Protection assessments and working in the
Family Court arena. Donna has been a
licensed/practising PAMS Trainer since 2011.
Rosanna Aten-Shearwood
(MA Social Work; BSc Psychology) is a Social Care
Team Manager with a front-line child protection team
in Derby City and an independent PAMS Trainer.
She previously worked for Derby City Council as a
qualified Social Worker; a Trainer; Practice Educator
and Practice Mentor Assessor working with social
workers across the Local Authority and Trainee
Practice Educators. Prior to a career in Social
Work, she spent time with the Nottingham City Family
Intervention Project as a Triple P Parenting
practitioner, running accredited Triple P courses in a
group setting and on a one-to-one basis with
vulnerable families. Prior to this, Rosanna
worked as a drug counsellor for adult prisoners, then
as Team Manager in the Midlands for 5 years. She
is registered with the Health & Care Professions
Council (HCPC) and the British Psychological Society
(BPS). Rosanna has been a
licensed/practising PAMS Trainer since 2011.
Sue Everton (Dip
Social Work; BA in Family and Child Care
Studies) is an independent Social
Worker with post-graduate training in Attachment Style
Interview, Signs of Safety, Care Index
and Video Interaction Guidance. She has over
twenty years’ child protection experience which
has involved the management of complex care
proceedings within the court arena. As a
practitioner and manager, Sue has worked as a
Children’s Guardian (CAFCASS) across a variety
of local authority settings. Sue has expertise
in delivering training and consultancy to local
authorities and other agencies. Sue has been a
licensed/practising PAMS Trainer since 2014.
